He lays out nine brass vessels. The largest, surya, is in the middle, with the other eight in a square around it- chandra, ketu, rahu, shani, shukra, brihaspati, budha, mangala. His wife and his mother sleep in the back room, and the smell of the seashore, the odor of a thousand wet dogs, is absent.
